Welcome to Old Bonhomme Elementary School! We are proud to share with you our school community, where we work together to help our students achieve amazing success. Here, each child is provided a challenging and motivating educational program. Our mission statement highlights the things we strive for daily: celebrating imagination and diversity; and educating and inspiring the whole child.Every day we provide a safe, child-centered setting to enhance the academic and character development of our students. We have twice been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School and Missouri Gold Star School. In 2013, we were named a Missouri School of Character! Old Bonhomme is unique in our close-knit community, academic success and cultural diversity. Learning about respect, responsibility, honesty, and compassion makes character education an integral part of who we are, instead of just something we do. Now that you have an idea about how special our school is, I want to share a little about me. I have more than 30 years of experience as an elementary school principal and have loved being the principal at Old Bonhomme Elementary School since 2004. I spend my free time with my husband, who is a high school teacher, and our two grown children. We love to travel and have camped extensively in the U.S. and Canada. In 2012, I traveled to China with a group of teachers, and in 2013, we celebrated our wedding anniversary in Italy. There are so many interesting things to learn about different cultures and countries through travel!

As you learn more about Old Bonhomme Elementary School, I hope you will join us in celebration of our students’ success and support our efforts to continue learning about ways to accomplish even more! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Kirchgessner
